Well the other day, my viewsonic monitor gave out on me, very strange. I went to class and left it on while doing some DVD work... and when I came back it was off. I was like... I thought I left it on, oh well, so I moved the mouse, still nothing, then I looked at the light, and the light was off, so I turned it off I thought at first. I went to turn it back on, came back and it's still off. I'm like wtf? Check the connections keep trying finally I heard a faint 'click' sound. Dead monitor...
So that night I went out to my mom's becuase she had two spare 17" monitors and I picked up the 'new' dell one she had which was 17". Boy was that a POS, could barley get 1280x1024 at 60hz. It was also a TUBE monitor, meaning not a flat screen crt. (different than flat panel).
So on my search went for a nice 17-21" monitor. I looked at a Dell P991 good condition, the guy wanted $75, which was too high for me for a monitor that couldn't go above 1600x1200. Also online I found it could do over 1600x1200, on one manu website saying it does 2046 or whatever that one is. So I figure there are 'two' different models of the same one, one that does more than the other. So on my search went, and I found another P991 for $40. I was like hawt damn, that's a slick price. Went checked it out, there are two minor black lines on the screen so it wasn't perfect but I said fuck it, just go for it, I needed one soon.
Come a few days later, I am messing around with it, and for some reason it showed it went to the higher resolution? I'm like wtf. So I tried 1920x1440 and it worked. Whoa now I'm excited. Now I turn it on this morning, and 1920x1440 is disabled. I was like wtf? Back to 1600x1200. I tried to do the same thing as before, but was unable to. My ATI driver said the monitor supported this higher resolution though. I'm confused now. Couldn't get it to work. So I downloaded a Dell P991 Driver and looked up the settings, it's listed as 1600. Meh, so I modify the driver, and here I am at 1920x1440.
I attached the driver for anyone that comes along and needs it.
