DVD+/-R's

So I went to Fry's the other day and bought what i thought were cd-r's. opened the package and realized they were dvd+r's. I tried to burn something on my burner, but didnt go through. said soemthing about upgrading my software? my burner is compatible with both formats, but dont know where to find softwarte to upgrade. any ideas or help? :\

Basically you are in need of a firmware update.

First off what brand dvd drive do you have? Whatever that brand is, go to their website and download the firmware update for your drive, watch out though there may be different reversions of the drive, and you need to get the right one (sometimes you'll have to open up your computer and pull the drive out to see which one it is.) after that you just follow the firmware update instructions and you should be able to burn it.

Basically as new media comes out, the drives need to be updated to support them.
